Senior Services in Your Community

Local senior resources for nine Northwest Suburbs

National directories can’t tell you which township runs the senior bus in your parent’s neighborhood. This section can. Each community page lists the local senior center, the township that handles benefits, the park district, the library, transit options, and where to get free Medicare counseling, with phone numbers you can call.

We cover Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Elk Grove Village, Hoffman Estates, Mount Prospect, Palatine, Rolling Meadows, Schaumburg, and Wheeling.

The most confusing part of senior help in this area is the township system. Townships, not villages, run most senior benefits programs, and their boundaries don’t match village lines. Buffalo Grove is split between two townships in two counties. Rolling Meadows is mostly in Palatine Township but has streets in two others. So every page tells you to confirm the township by address before you count on a service.

How we build these pages: we use official township, village, and park district sources, record the date we last checked, and note anything we couldn’t confirm. Please call before you go, since hours and programs change. If you spot a wrong number or an outdated program, tell us on the contact page, and we’ll fix it.
